The conference will explore innovative biotechnological solutions to improve food quality, enhance sustainability, and promote global health and well-being. It aims to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration among experts, with a focus on advancing biotechnological research and applications. Attendees will benefit from interdisciplinary discussions, networking opportunities, and the chance to contribute to a sustainable future. The event, featuring prominent keynote speakers and comprehensive sessions, is set to take place on 3-4 July 2024, with selected papers eligible for publication in internationally recognized journals.

Following the conference, a specialized workshop will be held on July 5th, 2024, offering a hands-on experience for participants interested in the practical aspects of biotechnology. This workshop is designed to complement the theoretical knowledge shared during the conference, providing an immersive environment for attendees to engage with advanced biotechnological techniques and applications directly relevant to food security and nutrition.

Background

Based on the report on the state of food security and nutrition in the world, the Covid-19 pandemic underlined the food system unreliability and the variation of the society that lead to the increasing of starvation and severe food insecurity. Some regions reach their prosperity, but the trend of child malnutrition globally continues and needs serious attention, including stunting and wasting, essential micro-nutrients deficiencies, and also overweight and obesity. In addition to that, maternal anemia, obesity among adults also need to be alarming. At the same time, the events of extreme climate change are disrupting the supply chain, especially in the low-middle income countries (LMICs). Recent data showed that approximately 3.1 billion people are unable to provide a healthy diet due to the increasing price.
By 2030, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in ending hunger, food security and all forms of malnutrition, an affordable healthy diet must be the priority. It should be reflected in the expansion of the supply of nutritious food, that composed the healthy diet, and educate the people to shift the consumption into them.
Biotechnology has tremendous potential for decreasing starvation and malnourishment by enhancing the quality of food in addition to improving the quantity of food. Biotechnology promises to bring important changes in plant as well as livestock production. In both fields, it will affect all steps of the production chain, from agrochemical inputs and breeding to final food processing. Biotechnology can improve the sustainability of production systems by requiring fewer inputs to control pests and better protect the quality of water and land mass around us. On the other hand, the research in the areas of food and nutrition is expanding rapidly with new knowledge to design diets and therapeutic functional food-based formulations for better health care and wholesomeness, and understanding the molecular aspect of the interaction between humans and food using multiple omics approaches. As we look at food production more holistically, biotechnology will be an important component of the holistic system.
The main theme of The International Conference and Workshop on Biotechnology 2024 is "Biotechnological Approaches in Food and Nutrition Security for Sustainable Global Health". The topics of interest include, but not limited to:

Theme

  • Agricultural Biotechnology for Food Improvement and Production
  • Omics Approaches in Nutrition Improvements
  • Microbial Technology for Food Improvements
  • Synthetic Biotechnology for Enhanching Benefit and Production of Bioprospecting
  • Functional Food, Nutrigenomics and Nutrigenetic
  • Integration of Nutrition, Food Security, and Vaccine Development
  • Biotechnology in Biomedical Science (NEW)

These sub-themes will explore the latest developments and innovations in biotechnology that can contribute to the enhancement of food and nutrition security and the promotion of global health. The conference will also provide a platform for researchers, academics, practitioners, policymakers, and industry leaders to exchange ideas, share experiences, and establish collaborations in the field of biotechnology. We invite you to join us at the The International Conference and Workshop on Biotechnology 2024 and be part of this exciting and impactful event.
